Patikan is a hard palmwood that grows in the Philippines. The natural grain of the wood has beautiful, parallel black markings, as if it were decorated with a paintbrush. And, the older the tree, the darker the wood. Here, the beads have been cut into a flat oval shape with a small cut out in the center. Each bead is large enough to be a focal bead, and they may be embellished by stringing a bead in the center. Try pairing them with semiprecious stones, shell, bone, and other natural materials.
