The large cross pendant is hand carved from ebony wood. There is a subtle twist carved into the lower part of the cross. The hole is drilled through the top of the cross, from front to back. Ebony is a descriptive term that can refer to one or more varieties of dense, dark or black hardwoods. Characteristically, ebony woods have a fine, tight wood grain, that takes a very nice polish. Ebony wood can sometimes have occasional banding of dark brown and black shades, known as tiger ebony. So, you'll find some variation in color among the lot, and you may find some striping. The understated style of this cross is perfect for meaningful design.
