Wood opalite, a type of petrified wood, is formed when silica replaces the organic material in decaying wood slowly over time. The result is mineralized wood which is hard like a gemstone. You'll find earthy colors like chocolate brown, tan, amber yellow, gray and cream. The beads have a beautiful polish and are very smooth.
