Magkuno wood is part of a group of hardwoods also referred to as ironwood for their toughness. The color can range from chocolate brown to a lighter cocoa color. Some beads have a bright sheen, while others have a more muted tone. The finish is smooth with fine wood grain. They have a nice polish, giving them the look of fine furniture.
