Ebony is a descriptive term that can refer to one or more varieties of dense, dark or black hardwoods. Characteristically, ebony woods have a fine, tight wood grain, that takes a very nice polish. These particular beads are super smooth and have a soft sheen when rolled around in the light. They appear black at first glance, but are very, very, very dark brown, on closer inspection in bright light. The chunky oval shape will certainly make a statement. Wood beads look great with a wide variety of metals. Try pairing them with semiprecious stones, shell, bone, and other natural materials. And, a bonus, the larger holed beads are perfect for crochet, macrame, and craft projects.
